Description:

• Family members and those who are in recovery from substance use are welcome to attend. Each meeting has an educational component and a support component.

  • Part One is a 30-minute presentation by a professional providing up-to-date, evidence-based information on a variety of topics including

    • Understanding substance use and addiction, separating fact from fiction

    • Relating to the person with substance use in a healthy way using evidence-based strategies

    • Supporting children and developing resilience

    • Community resources

    • Combating stigma

  • Part Two is a time of sharing and support to where people can

    • Discuss the needs and concerns of families

    • Share honestly in a confidential setting

    • Find hope, understanding, healing and comfort in the company of others who have also experienced substance use in their family
